From the "Land of Flowing Water" to the Land of Swirling Dust
Hilton Creek begins on the east slope at the crest of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. All year, it flows downhill, through the native habitat of Long Valley and into Crowley Lake. Once, kneeled in the tall grass, I watched a brown trout lay her eggs in an eddy of the creek, her spawning site.

During the nine years that I was a Senior Publicist and then Publicity Manager at Ten Speed Press, an imprint of Penguin Random House, I worked with many authors. Some showed little interest or acumen in publicity, while others were hard-working proponents of their books. Jamie Della was the latter.
Jamie was a joy to work with. Not only was she flexible, dedicated, and enthusiastic, she was savvy about the business of publicity, and astute at finding new and interesting publicity opportunities and outlets.
