Herbal-infused oil Workshop

Come join us for a night of Self-Care and discovery about one of the ancient holidays celebrating the spark of light and inspiration. We will each infuse and take home 8-oz of apricot kernel oil with herbs (calendula or cannabis), bless them in celebration of the ancient holiday of Imbolc, also known as Candlemas or Brigid’s Day, and learn self-massage techniques.

This workshop is purposefully held on the holiday that honors Brigid, the goddess of healing, fire, inspiration, and wells, when from the dark of a winter’s night, the first seeds of light and inspiration are planted. This is the time of year to crystallize your desires into a single flame. At the beginning of the year, we begin to connect to the powerful new life that is stirring in our spirit, awakening in the depths of the earth, and channel this light energy into an upsurge of personal power to heal ourselves. Oiling your skin increases immunity, reduces stress, improves circulation, and fosters self love. This hands on infusion and ceremony will be led by ritual herbalist and author Jamie Della. The self-massage portion of this workshop will be led by massage therapist Racquel Esqueda.

Anoint Yourself

You can grow your magickal practice right alongside your self-care and wellness practice by anointing your entire body with oil. Oiling is the beginning of establishing the sacred time, moment. space and experience for Magick.  Tending to yourself with loving care elevates confidence from the Latin word meaning “to have full trust.”

Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic therapy that involves massaging good-quality, natural, carrier oils, like olive, Jojoba, coconut, grapeseed, or apricot kernel oil, into your skin every day for a wide range of benefits. When done often, Abhyanga helps your skin retain its hydration and luster; reduces cellulite; tones skin, infuses your body, mind, and spirit with a grounding energy that soothes anxiety and tension; provides a physical layer of protection for the largest organ of your body; and offers psychic protection that allows you to hold onto your energy when situations or people may drain you. The latter benefit works especially well when herbs known for their protective properties are infused in the oils with the intention of preserving your energy. As a massage therapist, I can affirmatively state that each carrier oil has a different viscosity and emollience, so choose one that feels the best on your skin.
