The full ritual as well as a recipe for Hot Cross Buns from The Wicca Cookbook will post on my Substack page soon so that you can celebrate Spring Equinox also known as Ostara, with some magickal direction. This in-person ritual will be held in the Eastern Sierra. Now is a time to celebrate colorful, imaginative life, abundance and fecundity, blossoming radiance, and our ability to see a full spectrum of light. So we are going to make paper flowers to represent how Spring is the defiant hope that bursts forth from the cold clutches of winter. It is the joy made sweeter after heartache. Spring is gratitude for our faith that we can be reborn every year. It is the embrace of loved ones and community fellowship after grief and loss. Spring is the juicy palette of color after months of binary starkness in snow and barren trees.
This year the Spring Equinox will happen on March 19, 2024. Equi means equal and nox means night, so this Sabbat or holy day honors a season of vernal growing through a balance between light, action, yang, masculine, etc., and dark, rest, yin, feminine, etc. (Fall would represent holding this balance or harmony during the harvesting or reaping part of the life cycle).
