I closed my eyes and breathed Isis into my experience before I strung a single bead on the crystal chimes for the Mt. Shasta Goddess Temple kits adornments for advent candles. Every month, the Wise Woman Council of the Mt. Shasta Goddess Temple create handmade gifts that are inspired by a different Goddess each month for a Goddess kit.

In August we honor Auset, Isis. By feeling into the aspect of Isis who lives and breathes through me, the Goddess works through my hands to create a work of art in her honor. My present is to be present to the co-creation.

From the Mt. Shasta Goddess Temple website.
“Auset, Isis, Goddess of 10,000 Names
Isis is the mystical Egyptian goddess of 10,000 names. In the ancient world, her name (meaning “throne”) was appended to the names of many deities in Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Her worship was vast, and her medicine potent. The Good Queen who cares for the land, its rulers, and its people is known for a wide variety of powers: the power of magical utterances, the power of water and rain, the power of the stars, of alchemy, of raising beings from the dead. She is goddess of fertility, magic, and transcendent wisdom. There is nowhere on Earth where Isis is not welcome, because she is in the heart of every living being. She is the double helix of our DNA, the rising of the dog star Sirius, and the rains which bring relief and nourishment as well as destruction. She is a justice bringer and a leader, and she teaches us to stand up for ourselves and those who are less fortunate than we.”

You know how you can breathe deeply and remember your favorite childhood park or college coffee shop or any number of pivotal places, people or events that have affected your life? This is kind of “feeling into the experience” visualization is how I invoke the Goddess when I am creating for the Goddess kits. I meditated about the praise and prayers to Isis and ways in which to honor her as I strung each gorgeous Lapis Lazuli. I particularly liked the suggestion to treat another woman to a day at the spa. I began to get into a trance-inducing rhythm; finding new patterns of healing vibration. I thought about how Isis adds a healing balm to my and anyone’s mother wound; how to teach Goddess aspects through creative writing in August Journey Into Her: Goddess Aspect of Self; and gifting the Magick to the women who would get this jewel.

The crystal at the bottom of the chimes comes from an antique chandelier that used to hang over my childhood family dinner table. My Priestess Sister Molly offered a comment that cleared a new window, as if I had just uncovered another facet to the diamond of my heart light. “How beautiful that the shining light which illuminated your own childhood is being shared to honour the Mother!”

That was a side of this experience that I hadn’t considered; yet another beautiful gift I received in the matriarchal gift economy of the ancient future. The purchases of these kits are put into a scholarship fund to help women of our Temple to travel and attend Temple events. I donate something in honor of the Mt. Shasta Goddess kits every month because it feels good to help other women. This is how it should be. I am transformed in the creative process as I slow down and feel into a new aspect of the Divine Feminine every month by co-creating with the Goddess.
