A Box of Magick Book Tour
“Each step of awakening to the call of your inner Witch is rife with excitement. The Path, as is it known, can feel electrifying upon your first steps as well as at every threshold you approach along the way. Your worldview expands as you see all things as alive and potential allies for this journey we call life. At this crossroads, the important question is not whether you can manifest but where you will place your extraordinary energy. Where will you direct your Divine Essence and love?” - A BOX OF MAGICK by Jamie Della
I threw myself a kick ass party to celebrate my tenth book A Box of Magick.
I booked the downstairs den of the Mammoth Brewing Company, courtesy of my friend Chase. I put up flyers and bookmarks all over town. The event was in the local paper. I organized the witchcraft trivia night that would follow my reception. I read from my book aloud in public for the first time. I celebrated my book, my accomplishment, and my joy. The room was packed with friends and family. Kobe played music solo and with some of my gal pals. I could not have asked for a better Pub Night for A Box of Magick.
My spell of feeling loved and supported came true.
A few days later, Joey and I hit the road for Sebastopol and a booksigning at Copperfield Books. The event included a conversation with fellow witch author, Tenae Stewart. Again, I was blessed by such devotion and love. My dear friend Tonya drove four hours - each way to attend this event. My family by love (Joey’s family) sister, brother and sister in law came to support me, too. I signed books at the Dragon’s Lair in Ukiah, Re-Evolution for the Harvest Festival and Book Juggler in Willits.
After 23 years of bopping in and out of witchy, occult, eclectic, independent mom and pop shops with my books, I know this is the Magickal moment - this is when I meet my readers, one on one.
The following week, I walked into Magick Nature with a smile on my face and heart, ready to meet the people who would devote hours to reading words that I had written. That is the true Magick and ever so humbling and gratitude inspiring. The Witches and the Witch-curious or Witch-adjacent came in one at a time - as if planned - so I could have a special moment with each person. I brought apples from our tree - because what is more fun than a Witch offering you an apple?
On Friday the 13th, I had an extraordinary book signing and knot Magick ritual at Arvida Books. There were 13 guests - friends and family who believed in the Magick that I had to share. The next day was an extraordinary feeling to be at the Barnes & Noble in Huntington Beach with a microphone in my hand, echoing out through the two-story building. I read from my book about an awe-inspiring and unforgettable Barnes & Noble booksigning in 2001, just weeks after the 9/11 tragedy. That evening I returned to the Anaheim Packing House, where my grandparents met and I had once been the marketing manager and now returning author.
Sunday was the 25th Annual LA/OC Pagan Pride event. I haven’t been in years. Twenty years ago, I signed books next to Raven Grimassi. This year, I felt humbled by the growth and confidence of our pagan community. We have broken the glass ceiling. We don’t have to hide in the broom closet any more.
I was thrilled when Ravens at the Crossroads asked me to be on their podcast on the spot. I was elated when Brian asked me to return to Pagan Pride next year. I was touched when my dear friends Larry and Marianne sat in the front row of my workshop. I was bowled over completely when standing in the Eye of the Cat booth, Miss Kelly of L’amour de Mort ran into the shop, grabbed hold of Lady K, and exclaimed, “Have you of the new book about Connie? It’s written by Jamie Della. She’s here! Doing a workshop!”
I mean, Good Goddess, Universe, could you BE any more kind?
The Magick you wield is in choosing where to place your extraordinary energy. Life is full of trigger moments and glimmer moments Choose to honor every moment that makes you feel bright and happy - no matter how big or small.
And then there was one more round - a return trip to our Mendocino homestead. My dear friend Copperwoman joined me in conversation and song at a booksigning at Russian River Bookshop in Guerneville. We spent the week on our property, relaxing because this stretch of promotions was almost over. But not before a visit to Gallery Bookshop in Mendocino to sign books. I just LOVED that my books were next to Manly P Hall as many of his correspondence handouts were in Connie’s treasure trove. The kindest people showed up for the author talk and knot Magick (instructions on page 125 of A Box of Magick) at KamaLoka Bookshop in Fort Bragg, including a new friend Camilla who drove two hours each way to support me. This was a whirlwind tour and I’m so immensely grateful for everyone who bought a book, came to support me, or cheered on this book baby from wherever you are. I adore you!
