The Hour of Magick began as an idea between two sisters with the intention is to bring women together on all paths of life and give them some tools to set intentions for the month ahead. The hour includes a guided meditations with crystals, Astrology with Shrya, Social Connections with Megan Budd-Reyes, and Practical Magick with me!

Our objective is to bring together woman into community and to be able to learn and grow together along the way. We meet online on the first Sunday of the month at 11am. Each week will include guided meditation, crystals, astrology, herbs, rituals, and proactive strategies to implement during the month.

Here's a recap of our first Hour of Magick launched on Sunday, January 7. January is the Wolf Moon. Wolf is the pathfinder, the forerunner of new ideas who returns to the clan to teach and share medicine. The wolf knows when to turn inward for the answers and when to gather in community.

During Wolf Moon month, Mars enters Taurus, Venus enters Capricorn, Mercury enters  Aquarius, and the Sun will enter Aquarius! Lots of planet transitions this month. Mercury will enter retrograde, with the pre-shadow on the 14th, and will officially station retrograde on the 30th. As a reminder, try not to sign any contracts and be very careful to review, revise and rethink before doing anything communication wise (talking, writing, posting, etc).

The New Moon tonight (Tuesday, January 12th at 9:02 PM PST) in Capricorn is the fresh start we can all utilize to find structure and organization. This moon cycle is a perfect time to set our goals and intentions. Earthing, spending time in nature, and getting to know your herbs will benefit you during this earth sign moon.

On January 28th, we have the Full Moon in Leo, which will be the peak of this moon cycle. Did you do the work to harvest your success? Leo is loud, proud, and confident. If you did the work, you can bathe in your accomplishments with a sense of pride.

Social Connection with Megan Budd-Reyes

Sleep is essential for overall happiness and a fit and healthy body. Just like we set a bedtime routine for our children, if we do the same for ourselves that will signal to our body that it is time to slow down and get some much needed rest.

Practical Magick

Carrier oils are the oils (i.e., almond oil) that carry the plant medicine (say, lavender). Essential oils are steam/air extracted from the plants. Plant-infused oils are heat/time extracted. A small sample of the carrier oils that I have used include coconut, jojoba, olive, avocado, apricot kernel, grapeseed, and sunflower oils.

Each oil has a different level of emollience. Def: 1. Softening and soothing, especially to the skin. Emollience makes skin pliable and increases circulation, endorphins, serotonins, dopamine's, immunity, and protection of your physical body, your skin, the largest organ of your body. Oiling your body provides a spiritual layer of protection that assuages your aura's anxiety, like smoothing bent feathers.

Sit with the plants that you use in your oils, teas, and baths. Know what they look like to develop a reciprocal relationship that may develop into a plant ally. You may already be working with basil or rosemary. Learn your plant's stories and their medicine will be stronger for you.  (see next Sage Woman Magazine for my article on Plant Allies and Their Women). Buy Be Calm Tea from Oshala Farm here>>
